Captain Cook Cruises has been taking divers to some of the best dive sites in the world for over 30 years. Here are some of our best dive stories:
Scuba Diving For The First Time
Sue had just completed her diver training with Captain Cook Cruises Fiji. She was now a certified open water diver. She was excited to put her new skills to use and plan to dive the Fijian waters.
Become A Scuba Diver
Sue had always been fascinated by the ocean. As a child, she would spend hours looking at pictures of dolphins and whales. She dreamed of one day swimming with these majestic creatures. Her dream became a reality when she took her first diving lesson with Captain Cook Cruises Fiji.
Discovery Cruises Lead to Adventures
She was nervous at first, but her instructor was very patient and soon she was enjoying the experience. She loved the feeling of weightlessness and the incredible views of the underwater world.
Beautiful Dive Site of Fiji
Now that she was a certified diver, she was looking forward to exploring the beautiful waters of Northern Fiji. This was one of the most beautiful places on earth and she was excited to see it firsthand.
More than just a Morning Snorkel
Captain Cook Cruises offers a variety of great diving trips to the Fijian Islands. Sue chose the two-day trip that included four dives. She was excited to get in the water and see the amazing marine life that the reef had to offer.
Tender Boat To Deep Water
The first dive was a shallow reef dive. Sue was amazed by the colourful coral and the variety of fish. She even saw a turtle swimming by. The second dive was nearby and she saw some large fish and a shark. This was a bit scary, but she felt safe with her qualified dive instructor.
Incredible Safety Protocols
The following day third dive was deeper and she saw some beautiful corals and fish. She was also lucky enough to see a whale swimming by. “This was an incredible experience and I felt very reassured by the safety protocols of Captain Cook Cruises Fiji,” Sue said.
Manta Rays Night Snorkel
The fourth and final dive was a night dive. This was Sue’s favourite dive. She saw some amazing creatures that she had never seen before. She was also lucky enough to see a manta ray.
After her diving trip, Sue was hooked. She loved the underwater world and she wanted to explore it more. She was already planning her next diving trip.

Captain Cook Cruises to the Rescue
In 1986, one of our dive guides, Alistar, was diving with a group of guests when he spotted something unusual in the water. He swam over to investigate and discovered a large turtle entangled in a fishing net. Alistar quickly freed the turtle and escorted it to safety.
Creature From A Reef Endeavour
In 2005, one of our guests, a keen photographer, snapped a photo of a rare and unusual nudibranch. This beautiful creature is usually only found in deep water, but this individual had made its way into the shallows.
Discover Fiji With Captain Cook
In 2015, one of our dive guides, Jona, was leading a group of guests on a night dive when he spotted something moving in the sand. He shone his torch to get a better look and discovered a tiny octopus, no bigger than his thumb!
